Why It Matters

A RENDERING CATCHES
PROBLEMS A FLOOR
PLAN CAN'T

A 2D floor plan tells you where a wall or an island goes, but it doesn't tell you how the space actually feels once you're standing in it. We've had clients look at a rendering and realize the island they'd planned would crowd the walkway to the back door, or that a wall of upper cabinets would block a window they didn't want to lose โ€” the kind of thing that's obvious once you can see it, and easy to miss on paper.

Because the rendering is produced by our own in-house design team rather than outsourced, it's built from the same measurements, structural constraints, and material selections that go into your actual permit set and construction drawings โ€” not a generic mockup. What you see in the rendering is what we're pricing and what we're building.

What We Need From You

MAKING A GOOD
RENDERING

The rendering is only as accurate as what we start with. For most requests, a short phone consultation covering rough room dimensions, what's staying versus changing, and any inspiration photos is enough to get started. For larger projects โ€” full additions, ADUs, or anything involving structural changes โ€” we'll usually ask to see the space in person or review existing floor plans so the rendering reflects real constraints like ceiling height, window placement, and load-bearing walls.

If you're still deciding between two or three directions for a space, that's a normal starting point โ€” many clients request a rendering specifically to compare options side by side before settling on one.

Common Questions

3D RENDERING FAQ

Yes. There's no fee for the rendering and no obligation to hire us for construction afterward. It's part of how we make the case for our design work upfront, before you've committed to anything.

That's fine โ€” the rendering is yours to keep either way. Some clients use it to help decide whether a renovation is worth pursuing at all, or to get quotes from other contractors.

Not always. Smaller projects like a kitchen or bathroom refresh can often be rendered from photos and rough measurements. Larger projects โ€” additions, ADUs, or anything touching structure โ€” usually need a site visit or existing floor plans so the rendering reflects real constraints.

It depends on the scope of your project and what we discuss in the initial consultation โ€” some clients get one refined direction, others get two or three layout or material options to compare side by side.
